History

Once a Thoroughbred Racehorse training and rehabilitation center, PVTC's very interesting past should never be lost. As the first facility in California to install a swimming pool as a recovery and training aid, it was for many years at the top of their game as a Thoroughbred training ground. The central location of PVTC to the San Francisco Bay Area racing venues was crucial to their success.

As the current Portola Valley Training Center, the superb location of PVTC and superior service attracted a plethora of top-notch competitors to their prestigious Portola Valley Classic Equestrian Festival for many years and included Joe Montana (pictured centered above). Shortly following a world-class career, 49er Joe Montana kept his horses at PVTC and competed at the show.
